third quarter 19th century
This runner is a fine example of a small group of extremely well drawn Shirvans with almost entirely open sapphire blue field. Here stepped colorful triangles project from the inner border toward the center to frame three highly stylized human figures. The ivory main border displays a crab pattern of large rosette and smaller dependent buds. At the top end are green strips of partial sections of the popular Cufic pattern. Red rosette guards and two tone reciprocals complete the border layout. The colors are specially well dyed with yellow orange, rose, green, various blues, dark brown. several reds and ivory. The weave is uniform, and the pile surface is velvety and neatly clipped. The condition is generally very good.
